On 08/31/2017 officers were dispatched to W Hamilton Ave where the defendant, Samuel Buckner, and his ex-girlfriend, (victim), were waiting for officers outside the residence.

She stated that he accused her of sleeping with their third roommate, xxxx , because of the door being open. A verbal argument ensued and she stated that Samuel escalated the verbal argument to physical when he struck her with a closed fist on her chin. He then ripped her shirt as he proceeded to grab her by the throat and strangle her to the point that she felt she could not breathe. After a few moments he released her and she told him that she was going to call the police, at which time he took the phone from her and threw it onto the ground, stomped on the phone, breaking the screen.
