Starkesha Whitman Cashes Check Twice, steals $1,530 from TN Quick Cash.

Starkesha Whitman was arrested late Sunday night for an outstanding warrant for felony theft, after she doubled her money by cashing her check on a mobile app, and at a check cashing business – getting paid twice.

The open warrant stemmed from a May incident, when Starkesha Whitman had a paper check for $1,530.00. She used made a ‘mobile deposit’ of the check, which loaded her prepaid bank card with the cash by taking a photo of the check. Whitman then visited TN Quick Cash and cashed the paper check – doubling her money.

When TN Quick Cash deposited her check, it was eventually returned as already cashed, causing the business to be at a loss for the full amount of the money they gave her for the check.

Starkesha Whitman was charged with Felony Theft, and booked into the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department. Her bond was set at $1500 but she was then released on the pre-trial program, and will appear in court initially on 01/09/18.

Court Affidavit:

Art Mariscal is the Loss Prevention Manager with TN Quick Cash, 5701 Nolensville Pk., Nashville TN. While performing his duties as such, he discovered that on 05-08-17, Starkesha Whitman cashed a check at that location for $1,530.00. The check was later returned because it had already been cashed. Whitman refused to repay them and TN Quick Cash suffered a loss of $1,530.00.

I interviewed Whitman and she admitted making a mobile deposit of the check on to a prepaid bank card and then cashing the hard copy at TN Quick Cash.
